Obesity is one of the leading causes for type-II
diabetes. In the present study we investigated the poly herbal formulation Ayurslim (AS) for obesity associated diabetes in
normal and high fat diet-STZ injected rats. Blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides, serum LDL, HDL, VLDL, AST, ALT
levels and body weight in obese diabetic rats were evaluated. Administration of AS for 15 days significantly lowered the
elevated levels of blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, VLDL, AST, ALT, body weight and increased the levels
of HDL. From this study it was suggested that AS possess antidiabetic and antihyperlipidemic action and might be a good
candidate for obesity associated diabetes.
<Email>lathaudayan94@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>3</volume><issue>4</issue><year>2012</year><keyword>Diabetes mellitus,Streptozotocin,Poly herbal formulation,Ayurslim</keyword><AUTHORS>P.
