& K) India in the month of May- June 2011, identified by the Department of Botany University of Kashmir using standard
references. The rhizomes of both the plants were cut ,washed with the help of tap water and then shade dried for some days.
These shade dried rhizomes were grinded using electric grinder and then extracted with aqueous. Comparative analysis of the
extracts of Podophyllum hexandrum and Rheum emodi revealed that flavonoids and terpenes are present strongly in both the
plant extracts. Similarly glycosides were absent in both the extracts. But the saponins were strongly present in extracts of
Podophyllum hexandrum but were seen absent in extracts of Rheum emodi. Similarly proteins were strongly present in extracts
of Podophyllum hexandrum compared to extracts of Rheum emodi.
<Email>showkat.wani832@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>3</volume><issue>5</issue><year>2012</year><keyword>Podophyllum hexandrum,Rheum emodi,Aqueous extract</keyword><AUTHORS>Showkat Ahmad Wani,K.W.
