describe the definition of potential saliva proteins that may act as diagnostic marker in oral cancer. Saliva samples of biopsy
confirmed cases of oral cancer and normal controls of similar age group were subjected to SDS-PAGE on a 15% resolving gel,
followed by staining with Coomassie Brilliant Blue R-250. Protein fractions were analyzed using computer software program
―Gene Genius Gel Documentation and Analysis System‖. Major protein fractions ranging in molecular weights from 4.8-98
kDa were observed with different intensity. Raw volumes of most of the protein fractions seem to be increased in majority of
oral cancer cases as compared to normal control. Protein fractions 69 and 96 kDa were undetected in normal controls but
appeared in 66% of Oral cancer patient. Further advancement of this work could yield improved resolution of protein fraction
69 and 96 kDa that could serve as marker for oral cancer.
<Email>nishant7373@yahoo.co.in</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>3</volume><issue>7</issue><year>2012</year><keyword>Oral cancer,Saliva protein,Analysis, SDS-PAGE</keyword><AUTHORS>Nishant Sharma,Archana Shrivastav,BR Shrivastav</AUTHORS><afflication>Department of Biotechnology, College of Life Sciences, Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, Gwalior 474009, MP., India.,Department of Biotechnology, College of Life Sciences, Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, Gwalior 474009, MP., India.,Department of Biotechnology, College of Life Sciences, Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, Gwalior 474009, MP., India.</afflication></Article></Articles>
