IN MICE</JournalTitle>
The present study was designed to evaluate the anti-depressant activity of Ethanolic extract of Ougeinia oojeinensis by
Forced swim test (FST) and Tail suspension test (TST). The mice 25-30g were used in study. Escitalopram (10mg/kg, p.o),
Ougeinia oojeinensis (200mg/kg, p.o) and Ougeiniao oojeinensis plus escitalopram (200mg/kg and 10mg/kg) administered 1 hr
prior to study. Duration and percentage reduction of immobility was noted. The extract alone has shown significantly decrease
the immobility time compare to control and synergistic activity when given in combination with standard drug escitalopram in
both the models. So the studies suggest that ethanolic extract Ougeiniao ojeinensis good antidepressant effect.
<Email>velu0906@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>4</volume><issue>5</issue><year>2013</year><keyword>Forced swim test,Tail suspension test,Anti-depressant,Ougeinia oojeinensis</keyword><AUTHORS>C.
