240NEUROPROTECTIVE ACTIVITY OF MUKIA MADERASPATNA LINN. ROEM AGAINST MPTP (1- METHYL 4-PHENYL 1,2,3,6- TETRAHYDROPYRIDINE) INDUCED NEUROTOXICITY IN RATSThe present study evaluated the Neuroprotective activity of Mukia maderaspatna Linn against MPTP induced neurotoxicity. Intraperitoneal administration of MPTP (20 mg/kg) produces alteration in the normal function. Biochemical estimation showed increased lipid peroxidation and antioxidant levels. Histopathological evaluation of MPTP treated group brain sections shows alteration in the normal architecture. The treatment with the Methanolic extract of Mukia maderaspatna Linn at the dose of 100mg/kg and 200 mg/kg p.o. respectively significantly reversed the biochemical and histopathological changes caused by MPTP.
