IN TROPICS OF HIMALAYA USING HPLC WITH DAD DETECTOR</JournalTitle>
Withanolides are a group of steroids that have been shown in laboratory tests to suppress cancer cells and act as
an antioxidant. Roots of Withania somnifera, a shrub that is native to India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka contains withanolides. In
India plant grows in plains and tropical regions but grow extensively in the sub -tropical areas of Himachal Pradesh. Systemic
pharmacological studies on withanolides revealed that withanolide A has the ability to regenerate parts of the neuron, including
the axon, dendrite, and synapse. In animal studies, the effect Rf value of the steroid on the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease
have shown promising results. The main aim of this study was to analyse phytochmical profiling and demonstrate the presence
and quantify withanolide A in the sub-tropical Withania somnifera. The plant has shown considerable difference in quantity of
Withanolide A as compared to tropical and plains of India. The work will provide logistic benefits of identifying distribution of
different alkaloids in the plant of isolations, and according several other advantages including technological, economic,
preventing contaminations etc., the said method would be valuable and advantageous for standardization of molecular
compound and metabolomic characterization of plants.
<Email> diamondmamta@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>4</volume><issue>10</issue><year>2013</year><keyword>Withanolide A, phytochemical profiling,TLC,HPLC</keyword><AUTHORS>Mamta Sharma,Rupinder Kaur,Sunil Puri</AUTHORS><afflication>School of Biological and Environment Sciences, Faculty of Basic Sciences, Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences, Solan, H.P.-173212.,School of Biological and Environment Sciences, Faculty of Basic Sciences, Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences, Solan, H.P.-173212.,School of Biological and Environment Sciences, Faculty of Basic Sciences, Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences, Solan, H.P.-173212.</afflication></Article></Articles>
