and an ornamental tree native to India and Sri Lanka, (Family – Caesalpinaceae) (Tamil – Sarakondrai). The methanol extract
of Cassia fistula seeds was investigated for potential antimicrobial activity against different medically important bacterial
strains. Disk diffusion technique was used to determined antimicrobial activity. The extract was effective on tested
microorganism. Hence, this plant can be used to discover bioactive natural products that may leads in the development of new
pharmaceuticals that address not fulfilled therapeutic needs.
<Email>kushwahamaya21@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>4</volume><issue>11</issue><year>2013</year><keyword>Cassia fistula,Methanolic extract,Phytochemical,Antimicrobial</keyword><AUTHORS>Kushwaha Maya,Banerjee Meenakshi</AUTHORS><afflication>Laboratory of algal Biotechnology, Biosciences Department, Barkatullah University, Bhopal, M.P., India.,Laboratory of algal Biotechnology, Biosciences Department, Barkatullah University, Bhopal, M.P., India.</afflication></Article></Articles>
