<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Articles><Article><id>302</id><JournalTitle>ALPRAZOLAM INDUCED BIOCHEMICAL CHANGES IN HUMAN ERYTHROCYTE MEMBRANE AND PLASMA</JournalTitle><Abstract>Anxiolytics are the drugs for short term relief of severe and disabling anxiety. Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine whose
hydroxylated derivative shows medium anxiolytic and antidepressant action. It acts by binding to a specific regulatory site on
GABAA receptor thus enhancing the inhibitory effect of GABA and also alprazolam induces some important biochemical
changes in human erythrocyte membrane and plasma. Many tests have shown that response is an increase in behavioural
activity, so it is clear that alprazolam produces something more than nonspecific sedation. Possible new approaches based on
