<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Articles><Article><id>327</id><JournalTitle>ANTIHYPERGLYCEMIC, HYPOLIPIDEMIC AND ANTIOXIDENT EFFECT OF AQUEOUS EXTRACT OF CORIANDER SATIVUM (SEED) AND GINGER OFFICINALE (RHIZOME) COMBINATION IN STREPTOZOTOCIN INDUCED DIABETES MELLITUS RATS</JournalTitle><Abstract>Hypoglycemic drugs are either too expensive or have undesirable side effects including hematological, coma and
disturbances of liver, kidney. Limiting of diabetes without any side effects is still a challenge to the medical system. This leads
to exert effort to search for effective, safer and less cost of antidiabetic natural drugs. The present study involves combination
effect of Coriander sativum (seeds) and Ginger officinale (rhizome) in streptozotocin induced diabetes rats and their synergistic
effect with glibenclamide. Aqueous extract of ginger (rhizome) and coriander (seeds) shows significant (p<0.05) reduction in
blood glucose level and shows synergistic effect with glibenclamide in streptozotocin induced wistar rats. And these
combination therapies showed an improved anti hyperglycemic activity and significant reduction in total cholesterol, LDLcholesterol, VLDL-cholesterol and triglycerides. And the activities of the enzymes SOD, CAT, GSH and GPX were increased
and it can provide safe and effective option for the drug combination that may be very useful for the effective improvement of
