pharmacophore can be expected to be reducing the blood glucose levels to a marked level. Synthetic ligands mimicking those
of the natural ligands described for PPARγ receptors can be chosen on the basis of the computational drug designing softwares.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the hypoglycemic activity and Oral Glucose Tolerance Test studies of the computationally
designed and synthesized 3-(5’’-(thiazolidine-2’’, 4’’-dionyl) methyl) derivatives of 7-flavanol and its receptor interaction. The
synthesized 3-(5’’-(thiazolidine-2’’, 4’’-dionyl) methyl) derivatives of 7-flavanols, dose of 30 mg/kg b.w. and the standard
drug, Ciglitazone dose of 20 mg/kg b.w, suspensions were prepared using Carboxy methyl cellulose. The prepared solutions of
synthesized compounds, standard drug and solvents were administered orally and evaluated by using two methods such as
hypoglycemic activity and oral glucose tolerance test. The blood glucose level was determined at different times by using
glucometer. Compounds with 6-nitro, 4’-nitro, 6,4’-dinitro, 3’4’-dinitro and 6,3’,4’-trinitro derivatives were found to be
showing more or equipotent hypoglycemic activity to the standard than the acetyl substituted or un-substituted forms of 3-(5’’-
(thiazolidine-2’’, 4’’-dionyl) methyl) derivatives of 7-flavanol. These compounds significantly decreased ** (p<0.01) blood
glucose levels in normal tests after 1 hr. In the present study, the hypoglycemic activity of 3-(5’’-(thiazolidine-2’’, 4’’-dionyl)
methyl) derivatives of 7-flavanol was demonstrated in normal rats and the results supported to be efficient
<Email> sreemenakag@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>4</volume><issue>12</issue><year>2013</year><keyword> Substituted Thiazolidinedione derivatives of 7-flavanol,Hypoglycemic activity,Oral glucose tolerance test</keyword><AUTHORS>Karpakavalli M, Sivakumar T,Kumar EP,Nagaraja Perumal G</AUTHORS><afflication>Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Karpagam College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore - 641032.
