and antioxidant potentials. It was specially assessed for its DNA damage inhibitory potential by using goat liver DNA as model
system. Callistamone citrinus ethanolic extract showed good activity in all the tests carried out even in low concentrations.
Study revealed the presence of saponin, flavanoid, terepenoids and tannin as major phytoconstituents as well as it reflected
potent antioxidant activity in all the in vitro assays. It showed a concentration dependent increase in antioxidant potential.
Moreover extract showed a good potential of inhibition of DNA damage. Results suggested the assessment of callistemon
citrinus fractions in in vivo systems to develop therapeutic molecules for oxidative stress
<Email>nitinpuranik4658@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>5</volume><issue>11</issue><year>2014</year><keyword>C. citrinus,DPPH,TAOC, Lipid peroxidation,Haemolysis,DNA damage,PCO</keyword><AUTHORS>Nitin Puranik,Smruti Sohani,Geetika Bakshi</AUTHORS><afflication>Department of Biosciences, Christian Eminent College, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India,Department of Biosciences, Christian Eminent College, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India,Department of Biosciences, Christian Eminent College, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India</afflication></Article></Articles>
