found within 15-30 cm of soil. A study on this earthworm’s coelomic fluid with regard to antibacterial property was carried out
for the first time. Earthworms were collected by hand sorting and digging technique and cultured in laboratory. Coelomic fluid
was collected by electrical stimulus and used against six types of bacteria.Out of six bacteria used in the experiment, coelomic
fluid of Eutyphoeus gammiei showed antibacterial activity against E.coli, L.acidophilus, and little activity against P.aeruginosa
and no antibacterial activity against Proteus vulgaris, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus
<Email>drbhattacharjeegautam@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>6</volume><issue>1</issue><year>2015</year><keyword>Antibacterial activity, Coelomic fluid,Earthworm,Eutyphoeusgammiei</keyword><AUTHORS>Gautam Bhattacharjee,Atish Chandra Ghosh</AUTHORS><afflication>Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Government Degree College, Dharmanagar, North Tripura, India.,Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Government Degree College, Dharmanagar, North Tripura, India</afflication></Article></Articles>
