causes including environmental pollution. During the last few decades environmental pollution in Iraq with physical,
chemical, and biological pollutants has been associated with increased percentage of some disease like cancer, recurrent
abortion, autoimmune disease, respiratory disease…..etc. IL-2 has been used as immune parameter because of its role
concerning allograft rejection and spontaneous recurrent abortion (SRA), so the present study aimed to estimate IL-2 level
in group of women with non infectious recurrent abortion beside a group of healthy control women. A total of 55 Iraqi
women grouped as 35 non infectious recurrently aborted women and with normal health history beside 10 non pregnant
and 10 pregnant women as healthy control were used in the present study. Serum IL-2 level was estimated using sandwich
method ELISA technique. The mean level of IL-2 was (315.41 ± 38.84) pg/ ml, (36.48 ± 13.19) pg/ ml and (118.63 ±
24.81) pg/ ml in patients, control non pregnant and control pregnant women respectively with presence of statistically
significant difference among different groups. This result include the control healthy women a fact that need more
investigations .Our conclusion suggested alteration of some immune cells function which might result from chronic
exposure to some type of environmental pollution which lead to cytokine imbalance and outcome of SRA
<Email>aseelismail@yahoo.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>10</volume><issue>2</issue><year>2019</year><keyword> IL-2,ELISA,autoimmune disease,respiratory disease</keyword><AUTHORS>Dhuha S.
